History & Key Profile
In 1981, Black Cat Engineering and Construction began it's humble existence with
a small office in Doha and a single portacabin site office in Dukhan Oil & Gas Field.
We have since evolved into one of the leading EPIC and Maintenance Contractors for
the Oil & Gas Industry in the sate of Qatar. With a current manpower of over 2500
men and anticipated turnover of over 350 Million QR. we continue to expand along
with our Parent Company (QIPCO) under the patronage of H.E. SHEIKH HAMAD BIN ABDULLA
BIN KHALIFA AL-THANI.
One of the attributes that differentiates us from our local competitors is our considerable in-house engineering capability. Within excess of 60 discipline engineers we have the ability to undertake complex projects in very tight time scales.
Since the acquisition by the QIPCO group we have made significant investments in our resources and facilities. Significant expansions have been implemented in both our workshop and accommodation facilities in Zekreet. Additional office space has been acquired in Doha and the Management and Engineering teams have been considerably strengthened.
Turnover and profitability have been increased five-fold since the QIPCO acquisition. With a healthy backlog of over QAR 600 million excluding our QAR 1.7 billion joint venture project for the Ras Laffan Emergency and Safety Training College, BCEC is well placed to continue its recent rapid expansion.
We are currently executing projects in Dukhan, Mesaieed and Ras Laffan and our current and recent clients include Qatar Petroleum (QP), Gasal (a joint venture between QP and Air Liquide), Rasgas, Qatargas, QChem, Qafco, Petrofac and Hyundai. Recent and ongoing projects include pipelines and compressor stations, storage facilities, control room upgrades and brown field modifications to existing process plants. The quality of service we provide is reflected in the large amount of repeat business we receive.
We have recently created a Joint Venture company with AMEC a world class facilities management and shutdown contractor to provide asset support services and we have also acquired land for a maintenance workshop in Ras Laffan which is scheduled to become operational in Quarter 4, 2010. We also intend to enter into relationships with other service providers and equipment specialists.
Further strategic developments are also planned in the fabrication, MEP(mechanical, electrical & plumbing) and civil sectors.
